PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

RUTINOSE is a pure, water soluble, bioactive sugar with skin anti-aging effects. Produced by an environmentally friend biocatalysis process from citrus waste, Shreenika is the world’s only commercial manufacturer of rutinose, which is traditionally complexed in plants and inaccessible to end users. RUTINOSE increases skin elasticity and function by increasing collagen I production and by the inhibition of elastase, hyaluronidase, and collagenase. The high solubility of RUTINOSE in water allows for easy formulation and high concentrations that support bioactivity. RUTINOSE is especially bioactive in cellular models of aged and damaged cells, further supporting the anti-aging benefits of rutinose in restoring youthful skin appearance.

EFFICACY

INHIBITION OF ELASTASE IN VITRO
RUTINOSE exhibits impressive in-vitro elastase inhibition. 50% inhibition at only 2.5 mM concentration.
RUTINOSE: IC50 = 2.5 mM; Equivalent to 0.8% concentration.
INHIBITION OF HYALURONIDASE IN VITRO
RUTINOSE exhibits impressive in-vitro hyaluronidase inhibition at a broad use range. Over 50% inhibition at only .25 mM concentration.
RUTINOSE: IC50 = .25 mM; Equivalent to 0.08% concentration.
INHIBITION OF MMP-2 IN SKIN-AGING MODELS
RUTINOSE further exhibits MMP inhibition in physiologically aged normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs). Approximately 25% reduction in MMP-2 expression is observed at 10 mM concentration.
INCREASED COLLAGEN EXPRESSION IN SKIN CELLS
RUTINOSE activates collagen production in normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs). A 1 mM concentration appears to be highly efficacious, equating to a concentration of .32%.

CONCLUSION

RUTINOSE is a multi-functional bioactive sugar that protects skin function and has potent anti-aging benefits. This rare sugar is posed to provide benefits to cosmetic products with a strong use potential at low concentrations that are extremely simple for formulators to incorporate.

PRESERVATION AND MICROBIOLOGY

As a pure crystalline product, RUTINOSE doesn’t contain any preservative. RUTINOSE is free of specified pathogens. The number of non-pathogenic microorganisms with less than 100 CFU per g of RUTINOSE meets the CTFA microbiology guidelines.
SAFETY AND ECOLOGY
Standard and well-defined safety testing has been performed on RUTINOSE which has proved the product to be safe for cosmetic use. The data available do not indicate any environmental risk. The manufacturing process is designed to meet the criteria for the assessment of safety, health and protection of people and of the environment set out in the Responsible Care Program.
PROCESSING AND DOSAGE
RUTINOSE is soluble in both hot and cold water (+100 g/l at 20oC) and can be easily incorporated into cosmetic formulation either warm (< 70°C) or cold. RUTINOSE is stable in the pH-range of 3-8. In formulations RUTINOSE is compatible with UV filters and ethanol at concentrations of up to 50%. We recommend the addition of 0.1 up to 5%. Basic Guide Formulations are available upon request.
